About

Jump Time

Jump Time is a Swing Dance group based in Edinburgh providing weekly tuition and offering private lessons, performance and events. Jump Time was founded by Lee and Seema Paterson, who are two of Scotland's most experienced swing dancers. They are an Edinburgh based married couple who have been swing dancing together for over 20 years, specialising in all styles of swing dance from the 20s, 30s and 40s.

Their main areas of expertise are Lindy Hop and Collegiate Shag but they are also hot foot experts in Jitterbug, Charleston, Balboa and solo jazz routines from the era.

They have learnt their craft from some of the finest swing dancers in the world including Jean Veloz, Marcus and Barbl, Rob and Diane, Rusty Frank, Joel Plyse, and the Jiving Lindy Hoppers. They pass on their knowledge, experience and enthusiasm for the dance in their classes and events with an emphasis on fun.

Lee & Seema are co-owners of Jump Time Swing Dance and Events. They are also part of the Fly Right Dance Company and teach for a number of other dance groups throughout the UK and Europe. Their interest in 1920s-50s Swing, Jump Jive and Rhythm ‘n’ Blues precedes their dance careers and both Lee & Seema are avid collectors of vintage fashion and music from this period.

I have always loved vintage music and clothing and learning to swing dance added to the whole passion for that era. I have been teaching swing dance with my husband and dance partner Lee since 2002. I try to pass on my love and enjoyment of Swing Dance in my classes and above all make sure our students have fun.  Watching the happy faces of all the people we have taught over the years is the reason we still do it and love it so much!

I found a passion for Swing Dance in 2000 and I’ve been teaching and performing, throughout the UK and Europe, with my wife Seema since 2002. We have had the privilege of organising and performing at a considerable number of events over the years. We ensure our classes are always fun with an emphasis on styling, musicality, individuality and a healthy dose of dance history (thrown in for good measure!).
